Love the roses. We have a yellow rose that refuses to give up in the Florida heat, though we move it around the yard to help it survive said heat. And Dave's YT channel is five kinds of awesome.
As far as poetry, that's something that never took despite my ability to appreciate it. Probably because one of my teachers decided to force us to write a poem one day without laying out structure, etc., beforehand. That pretty much poisoned any desire I had to write poetry, though I do love me some Kipling and Service. 🙂
My favorite is Spencer's The Fairie Queen. But I need a version with modernized, but NOT prose, English.
One of the waitresses at the restaurant where we got married got some poetry published. After I read it, I told her that it reminded me a little bit of Spencer. She laughed and said she had written it during a English poetry class that included him. It wasn't copied. But had the same sort of flavor and feel.
