Sunday Salutations: Reflections among Roses, Recovery, and Ribbons
This week we have Dante's second run video, rose pictures, and another flash fiction from the past. Come on in for the dog videos and stay for the fiction!
Roses and Ribbons
This week has gone by too quickly. Work has been fun, busy, and keeping me on my toes in more ways then one. I have also finally recovered from the summer cold that hit me after Dante’s foray into obedience. And today, I spend a lot of time tidying up my roses. But that has me feeling a bit like Fanny from Jane Austen’s novel, who was completely exhausted after just half an hour stooping among the roses. I love roses, but I’m still a novice when it comes to their care. I was deadheading (removing old blooms) today and it was a beautiful, moving from rose to rose like a bee and tidying up here and there. Still, it made me realize just how little I know about roses, apart from their genetics. Something I will have to change in the near future.

Dante—who’s completed his runs at Smart and NGR for BN—was out there with me, helping among the flowers, or at least trying to chew on any longer branches I decided to prune. He is a little sweetheart almost always wanting to be with one of us. Below we have his second run was. In my eyes it is as beautiful—if not more so—than his first. He came in first place, even though he had a slightly lower score with more deductions. (You can try and figure out what they are if you want. Let me know what you guess!) Still, I love competing with him. He’s so in tune with me and always wants to please, wherever we go.

50 Word Throwback
One of the best series Raconteur Press via The Three Mom’s of the Apocalypse did was their “Postcard” series. We each got a different, random picture that we then wrote a fifty word story (no more, no less). Here, we’ve redone pictures similar to what The Three Mom’s used. To see the originals, buy the hardback books here https://amazon.com/author/casasent.
This story first appeared in Fanta-fly Postcards.
Eat Cake
"I need this for my cake," roared Jenni. She whipped out her frosting knife and swatted the enemy chef. Cayenne syrup splatters joined the chocolate marking her face.
Jenni trampled the stunned chef and returned to the cooking station, certain her cake would win.
"I shall become the Supreme Saucier!"
Chaos Tip of the Week
Everything can be turned into a training session. Just think of the multitasking mania you can achieve by using pruning time to start obedience practice! What better time is there to practice wait, stay, and (give me) space commands? Plus, it reminds you to take breaks while having your pup training alongside you.
Chaos Question of the Week
Does your dog like to help you garden? Or are they just happy to sit and watch you garden without a care in the world like a spoiled debutant.
Awesome 50 words, Tod, Anna.
Dante is kicking butt in the competition! 👏
The Swamp-doodle isn't into gardening; he tends to lie down under the awning while my wife is gardening. The Feline-muse follows her around for scratches, though. 🙂
I love the joy you two share with each other. Great job Anna!!
