Sunday Salutations from a Reign of Cats and Dogs
Sunday Salutations from a Reign of Cats and Dogs
Happy Pi Day Weekend! It is of course one of the best irrational numbers and dates in the world (and our anniversary), and for that we have multiple updates.
In publication news, Moggies in Space: A Galaxy Fur Fur Away is live ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CXZ5ZGXK ) with our story “It’s Raining Cats and Dogs” has been released into the wild. Of course, all of you have been clamoring for another Nano sapiens story to go forth and enjoy. Few of our stories are so poetically fluffy.
In other news, for our anniversary, we received a personalized rejection for one of our other stories! Woot! We aren’t joking here. We really are happy to receive rejections. The best ones provide feedback and let you know the rejected story was actually read. This one was awesome like that!
To celebrate the publication, we are introducing you to our Nano-Sapiens inspirations. Our own personal Chaos Critters.
First, most of our Newfoundland dogs are inspired by our own personal monstrosity. Regular readers will no doubt be familiar with his rally hijinks. Crokell is a six-year-old male Newfoundland dog. He’s a bit small for a Newfie, at 100 lbs. However, we keep him on the light side for health reasons.
Crokell running and full of floof.
Crokell full of drool with floof everywhere.
Next is Crokell’s brother, Beleth. He is a grey tabby half Maine Coon cat. Beleth is positive that he is a dog and will happily come, sit, stay, beg, spin, and do other dog tricks in return for Crokell’s kibble. He’s also small for a Maine Coon at 18 lbs and around 13 years old. If the masses request, we might be able to provide videos of his tricks.
Beleth is a bit sleepy here.
And here Beleth is imagining flying his bucket into space!
Aki is the princess of the hearth and home. She is devious as all calicos are. A small standard American short hair, she weighs in around 9 lbs. She is the elder cat at 14 years old, but still has claws and knows how to use them. She rules over her male subjects with a hiss, a sneeze, and dignity that no pedigree dog can match. While she has become accustomed to having a canine subject, she is still not sure why he has to drool.
Aki sitting pretty and contemplating what pain to inflict on the masses.
All curled up, Aki contemplates why Newfies insist on drooling.
Finally, we have the only animal minion that has not made it into the Nano-Sapiens universe (yet), although she has made appearances in a different story. Fluffy is our crest gecko. She’s 10 years old or so. She kept her tail for most of that but lost it last year. (Tod was cleaning retained shed off her toes, so she wouldn’t lose them. It bothered her a bit.) She is Tod’s companion for much of his work, watching over him as he types code or words. She will hopefully make it into her first story as part of an anthology to which we’ve submitted.
Fluffy looks down on all of us from her perch.
Sleeping through her closeup works, since Fluffy has no eyelids.
Happy Sunday,
Tod and Anna
