Sunday Salutations and Cowboy Publishing News
We have two pieces of writing news this week, which means you will have to wait until next week for Part 3 of P-Con. First, we got listed on the cover for Space Cowboys 3, which came out on Friday from Raconteur Press! Our story in that anthology is “Space Dog and the Runaway Asteroid”. It is a fun Nano-Sapiens story featuring the return of Sunset and friends.
Second, we signed the contract for “Peer Review Parenting” to be in Or All Shall Burn also from Raconteur Press. It seems like the people at Raconteur Press like our Nano-Sapiens stories.
The new anthology can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CJZWQ2BV

Both stories are in our science-fiction setting for space cowboys and space marine adventures, called Nano-Sapiens. This is where “delightfully weird” begins! And as always, you have our promise the dogs, cats, and other pets in our fiction will never die. Everyone else is fair game. (This promise does not hold for other authors in the anthology, obviously.)
What is Nano-Sapiens? Have you ever wanted your pets to talk and live the same life span as you? Well, in this far future, that goal has been achieved. Dogs, cats, and foxes compatible with nanotech shots are uplifted, making them truly sapient. However, with sapiency comes independence, responsibilities, opinions, and trouble. These stories follow different Nano-Sapiens who have made a niche for themselves as rugged space cowboys, adventuresome space marines, persnickety scientists, and much more.
What sort of dog, cat, or fox would you most like to see as a sapient? What sort of animal do you want to see as an alien?
Mild spoilers follow.
The first two published stories in Nano-Sapiens are in Space Cowboys 2 and Space Cowboys 3. In “Space Sheep and the Electric Cow”, we meet space sheep, microgravity manta rays around ten meters wide. Space sheep consume asteroids and other junk and extrude the elements as colorful wool on their backs. The space sheep are tended by a human and a Nano-Sapiens Miniature American Shepherd. We also introduce our first non-Terran sapient.
In “Space Dog and the Runaway Asteroid”, our alien lemur-like friend returns. A retired Newfoundland Dog space marine also helps out during the emergency.
In “Peer Review Parenting” you meet all three species of Nano-Sapiens, Miniature American Shepherds, Newfoundland Dogs, and Maine Coon Cats. But you’ll have to wait until it is published to learn any more. Sorry! (Not sorry.)
We have several other unpublished stories surrounding the space marines in the Nano-Sapiens universe. The space marines include humans and Nano-Sapiens Newfoundland Dogs and Maine Coon Cats. Plus, a calico cat scientist.
We hope to bring you more Nano-Sapiens soon!
