Sunday Salutation: Slowing Down to Smell the Roses.
Moving roses, moving in slow motion, and flying unicorns abound in this week's post.
We will resume doing longer stories in a few weeks. For now, I am doing updates because life… is well life. But we do have a fun short 50 word story we wrote a while back.
We are slowly getting back to normal, though it’s been a chaotic summer filled with both impromptu emergency and routine trips to the vet and doctor. I’ve decided that stuff is over. I think we will just get gloves, stethoscopes, and some antibiotics and call it all good. We will try to just go with the flow—much like Crokell did when I showing him this year (video below of my slow mo Newfie). He was sharp and focused in training classes, but the moment we stepped into the ring… it was over. I think he decided being awake was optional. His slow-motion is slower than what I expect in slow motion videos. He definitely keeps me humble and made me laugh. I need to figure out how to motivating him when there aren’t carrots or other snacks in my pocket. (Yep, my Boofers likes carrots, maybe he is a rabbit at heart.)
Beyond the doctor and dog adventures, we had my roses out of their barrels and into the ground. The move happened right in the heat (well it is Houston, so that is always), so the roses are looking a little crispy around the edges. Hopeful they’ll bounce back. To that end, I’ll be cutting them back and watering like there’s no tomorrow. The roses I didn’t move are still blooming away, though they’re overdue for some deadheading.

50 Word Throwback
One of the best series that Raconteur Press did was their “Postcard” series. We each got a different, random picture that we then wrote a fifty word story (no more, no less). Here, we’ve redone pictures similar to what Raconteur used. To see the originals, buy the hardback books here https://amazon.com/author/casasent.
This story first appeared in Steam-Powered Postcards.
Flying Dreams and Stranger Things
The engineer shrugged goggles into place against his shoulder. Four hooves worked onboard the aeroplane, careful of his purple mane, colorful tail, and golden unicorn horn they claimed too dangerous to ride in a balloon. He took flight. Steam cannon answered his detractors. Revenge complete, he flew into the sunset.
Chaos Tip of the Week
Move at half speed (like a slow motion Newfie), it confuses your enemies, calms your friends, and makes sure no snack escapes unnoticed.
Chaos Question of the Week
What otherwise embarrassing stuff does your pet do that nonetheless makes you laugh? Dog trainer should pick something outside of the ring - what happens in the ring, stays in the ring.
-Anna and Tod
BTW Wolfsong is me- Aunt Deborah. Didn't know if you knew. No very good at blogging. Lol
Loving your site Anna and Tod. I've got 2 kitties, a brother and a sister. They love to hate each other. One moment they're fighting and spitting, then when that's done they'll snuggle and lick each other to lay the fur back for 2 minutes. Immediately Followed by another round of fighting and spitting. Then followed by going there respective ways. Hilarious to watch but then your sweaping up cat furr and trying to soothe each cat to stop.
